MD of Opportunity
The Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 is accepting applications for full-time (No benefits) Security Officer position for the community of Calling Lake. Hours of work will be shift work, mainly night shift including weekends and statutory holidays. The Security Officer reports to the Manager of Bylaw Enforcement and will work in close cooperation with other MD staff, Community Peace Officers, External Security Agencies and the RCMP.
Position duties include:
- Uniformed night-security patrol of MD facilities and public areas in Calling Lake.
- Observing, recording, and reporting illicit activity such as campfires, public drinking, vandalism, suspicious activity, and crime.
- Checking doors, windows, locks and building interiors for illicit entry, damage or theft.
- Locking and unlocking parks and access gates.
- Completing documentation of patrols, incidents, and security activity.
- Using and caring for a marked MD vehicle.
- Providing information to residents regarding MD authorities and jurisdiction
- Checking and reporting street light outages
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications required:
- Must have a valid security license or the ability to obtain one.
- Must complete the Alberta Basic Security Training course and/or is awaiting license.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
- Grade 10 or higher education; and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Good communication, public relations and interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in varying situations.
