Journeyman Carpenter

The Municipal District of Opportunity is now accepting resumes for one permanent full time Journeyman Carpenter in our Facility Maintenance Department in Wabasca. The individual chosen must be self-motivated and knowledgeable in the area of maintenance. Under the general direction of the Facility Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the routine maintenance and repairs of our facilities at various MD locations including storage sheds and other duties. Some duties include carpentry, building maintenance and any other tasks that may arrive. Must be able to think quickly and trouble shoot any problem areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all projects are completed and maintained at optimal capacity.
• Perform maintenance and repair as required.
• Ability to work flexible hours (may require on call which includes some evenings & weekends).
• Ability & willingness to work on new & existing projects.

Qualifications:

• A valid class 5 Driver’s license.
• Experience in maintenance and repairs, a journeyman carpenter is preferred.
• Must be active and able to do physical activities (ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs).
• The ability to exercise independent judgment & initiative in completing assigned duties.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and bondable.
• Must be able to work at heights and have no problem getting into crawl spaces, etc.
• Must be able to communicate well with others.
• Ability to obtain satisfactory criminal record check upon hire.

This position requires an individual who is a team player, has the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work at various facilities and with various employees.
