MD of Opportunity

The Municipal District of Opportunity is seeking a temporary full-time Equipment Operator Calling Lake. Under the direction of Director of Utilities, this individual will report to the Water/Sewer Coordinator in Calling Lake. The individual chosen for this position in the M.D. of Opportunity will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and load ensuring safety and road worthiness.
  • Willing to train to maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from fellow worker’s as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that the load is roadworthy and safe.
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading, unloading of truck is cleaned up.
  • Provide feedback regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.
  • Maintain the equipment’s overall service and perform required inspections.
  • Provide written reports on operations as may be required.
  • Be familiar with and comply with NSC standards.
  • Willing to train to obtain their class 3 license.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Grade 10 or a minimum of two years’ experience may be considered.
  • A valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license.
  • Current TDG, WHIMIS, H2S, First Aid and Confined Space safety tickets.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment on operation of light/heavy equipment as it relates to safety.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check will be required at time of hire.
