If so, the MD of Opportunity is currently recruiting one volunteer to serve as Members at large on the Municipal Library Board for Calling Lake, Wabasca and Red Earth Creek. The appointment is for a three-year term.

Board Structure

The Library Board consists of no fewer than five and no more than 10 members appointed by Council. No more than two Council members may serve on the municipal library board. Appointments are for terms of up to three years.

Board Duties

Subject to any enactment that limits its authority, the municipal library board has full management and control of the municipal library established by the board. In accordance with the regulations, it shall organize, promote and maintain comprehensive and efficient library services in the municipality or municipalities it serves. The board may also cooperate with other boards and libraries in providing those services.

Budget

Before December 1 each year, the municipal board shall prepare a budget and an estimate of the funds required to operate and manage the municipal library during the ensuing fiscal year. The board shall submit the budget and estimate to the council of the municipality.

Accounts

The municipal board keeps account of its receipts, payments, credits and liabilities, ensures a person who is not a member of the municipal board and whose qualifications are satisfactory to council to review the accounts each calendar year & prepares and submits a financial report to council immediately after its completion.
