Fishing
Fishing is a popular activity on Calling Lake, Rock Island Lake, North Wabasca Lake (for Jackfish), Chipewyan Lake, Sandy Lake, Orloff Lake, Peerless Lake (for Lake Trout), and Graham Lake, and along the many rivers and smaller bodies of water in the MD of Opportunity.
Species include:
- Walleye (Pickerel)
- Northern Pike (Jackfish)
- Lake Trout (in Peerless Lake)
- Perch
- Whitefish
- Lingcod
Regulations
All Albertans and visitors aged 16 through 65 are required to have a sportfishing license and comply with Alberta Sportfishing Regulations when fishing on public waters.
During Family Fishing Weekends, fishing is allowed on waterbodies with open fishing seasons without requiring a sportfishing license. If you are using a Special Harvest License (Walleye tag), a sportfishing license is still required. For more information, visit My Wild Alberta.
