Bylaw Enforcement

Bylaw Enforcement for the Municipal District is a full time job function that not only focuses on enforcing municipal law, but also raising awareness, taking part in community events, and maintaining a strong working relationship with local RCMP Detachments.

The primary duties of Bylaw Enforcement include, but not limited to:

  • Enforcing municipal bylaws in all M.D. hamlets
  • Taking part in Emergency Operations and Disaster Services
  • Community events
  • Legal authorities and knowledge of municipal priorities
  • Overseeing M.D. security personnel in Wabasca, Calling Lake, Trout Lake, Peerless Lake

Priority Bylaws include Business licensing, Land use and Development (permits, unsightly premise), and Animal Control.

Bylaw Enforcement is based out of the Bruce Rathbone Fire Hall and works closely with the Transportation Dept, Land and Planning Dept, M.D. Safety Coordinator, All Emergency Services, and recognizable organizations (ie: Animal Rescue Groups).  The Bylaw Enforcement Officer answers to the Legislative Services Department Manager as well as the Chief Administrative Officer.
