The MD of Opportunity No. 17 is looking to fill a temporary full-time position in our Finance Department. This position requires a highly organized and self-motivated individual possessing sound financial accounting knowledge. The successful applicant will report directly to a senior or team lead or equivalent in Finance and will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-payment due diligence review of invoices based on applicable policies and processes;
- Undertake the billing function for specific segment(s), as assigned from time to time;
- Perform daily/monthly analysis and reconciliation of banks;
- Prepare and obtain proper approval of and record journal entries, as required;
- Undertake periodic reconciliations of key general ledger accounts on a timely basis;
- Carry out research and analysis of accounts, as well as record authorized adjustments;
- Provide timely assistance relating to the various review assignments and the annual audit;
- Assist the Finance personnel in the improvements of internal controls in various financial segments;
- Prepare financial reports on a weekly and monthly basis, as required;
- Coordinate and execute the annual budgeting process, including collaboration with other departments;
- Open, close, or suspend general ledger accounts as needed;
- Perform biweekly timekeeping duties; and
- Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidates should hold or work towards a recognized financial accounting diploma from an accredited institution like NAIT or Grande Prairie Regional College or similar community college, accompanied with the successful completion of course(s) on Accounting Principles and Practices and a minimum of two years of financial accounting experience in a computerized accounting environment. Equivalencies based on accounting courses at the intermediate level and experience will also be considered. This position requires a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good writing and communication skills. Experience in the use of Excel, Word and an email program is essential and that of the Great Plains Accounting software would be an asset, although not essential. Successful applicants will also require a satisfactory criminal record check upon hire.
