BIGSTONE CREE NATION HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF FIRST CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASE ON RESERVE

The confirmed case is self-isolating as per the Public Health Measures and privacy laws mandate that the person cannot be named and we want to ensure their privacy is respected.

The contact tracing will be done immediately and those that have been possibly exposed will be contacted and will receive instructions to self-isolate and get tested. It is very important to stay home and stay away from others.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PREVENT THE SPREAD:

  • IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL (COUGH, FEVER, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, RUNNY NOSE OR SORE THROAT) IT IS RECOMMENDED YOU SCHEDULE A COVID-19 TEST
  • IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, IT IS BEST TO STAY HOME AND SELF-ISOLATE
  • WEAR A MASK
  • WASH HANDS OFTEN
  • PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MINIMIZE SOCIAL GATHERINGS
  • STAY HOME AND LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF TIME YOU GO OUT

This will help ensure, your family, Elders, vulnerable population and the community stay safe. Testing is available at the Bigstone Health Centres, please call 780-891-2000 to schedule a test or call the Golden Opportunity Clinic, 780-891-2847.

ONLY THOSE WITH SYMPTOMS OR HAVE BEEN CONTACTED TO GET TESTED CAN SCHEDULE A TEST. THE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM AHS and HEALTH CANADA IS TO NO LONGER TEST THOSE WITH NO SYMPTOMS

We want to thank the communities for all your efforts by following the current By-Laws and public health measures over the past several months. We need to keep following these measures and only by our own actions we can help stop the spread of COVID-19. As we receive more information we will update through these notices

Thank you, stay safe!
