Wabasca-Desmarais

As the largest hamlet in the District of Opportunity, Wabasca is sheltered by the majestic North and South Wabasca Lakes.

With a population of 3,300 split between MD residents and Bigstone Cree Nation members, the area is rich with culture mixed with small-town leisurely charm.

Wabasca offers a multitude of recreational activities, both inside and out including a pool and fitness center, tennis courts, Community Outreach Center, skate board park, ball diamonds, outdoor rinds, and arena.

The North Wabasca Lake offers great fishing (summer and winter) as well as a place to participate in water activities like swimming, kayaking, or tubing. Quading, horse back riding, and snow mobile trails weave in and out of the forested area.

Beautiful scenery including wildlife can be viewed all around the area, great for photography enthusiasts.
