Trout Lake

This alluring and remote community is situated around Graham Lake which is densely forested and great for year-round recreational activities.

Trout Lake is located 90 km from Red Earth Creek on Secondary Road 686 (gravel), which is 170 km north of Slave Lake on HWY 88.

Accommodations

Peerless Campground is picturesquely located along Peerless Lake and offers rustic camping with 15 sites set in amongst trees. This non-serviced campground is 5 km outside of Peerless Lake heading towards Trout Lake.

Trout Lake Campground is non-serviced and located at the narrows between Graham Lake and Trout Lake. It offers a boat launch, picnic area, fire pits and firewood.

Recreation

Trout Lake is a community where trapping, horseback riding, sleigh riding, hunting and outdoor living are still quite common. Graham Lake provides an outlet for fishing, swimming, and other water activities.

Facilities include a Community Outreach Center, outdoor arena, ball diamonds, Community Hall, and playground.

In the past, Trout Lake was referred to as “Old Post” because Hudson Bay Store had operated in the area.

Aboriginal crafts are made by local women including beadwork, moccasins, jackets, and gloves. The art of tanning moose hides has been carried on from generation to generation.

Trout Lake has a population of approximately 370 with logging, oil and gas as its main economic base.
