TAKE NOTICE that pursuant to Section 191 of the Municipal Government Act, C. M26 as amended, the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 intends to hold a Public Hearing in consideration of a proposal to amend the Land Use Bylaw.
Bylaw 2017 - 03, being a Bylaw of the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 in the Province of Alberta, proposes to amend the Land Use Bylaw as follows:
1. That Section 8.70 Workcamps is amended to create an exclusionary buffer of 30km around the Hamlets of Wabasca, Red Earth Creek, Sandy Lake and Calling Lake so no workcamps, including short-term and RV workcamps, will be allowed.
2. That Section 9.1 E - Resources District, will be amended to change workcamps from permitted to discretionary use. And Sections 9.16 C2 - Commercial District, 9.17 - C3 Commercial District, 9.18 CH - Highway Commercial District, 9.20 M1 - Industrial District, 9.21 M2 - Industrial District, and 9.22 M3 - Airport Industrial District will be amended to remove workcamps as an allowable use.
Currently workcamps anywhere in the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 can apply for a development permit, and receive temporary approval for up to one year.

A copy of the proposed bylaw may be reviewed and inspected and/or purchased for a nominal fee by the public at the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 Office on Mistassiniy Road, Wabasca; Central Drive, Calling Lake; or Red Earth Drive, Red Earth Creek during the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
At 1:15 p.m. on February 8th, 2017, the Council for the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 will hold a PUBLIC HEARING in the Council Chambers of the Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 Administration Building in Wabasca, Alberta. Any objections or comments from members of the public regarding the proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw are welcome.
