The Department of Community Services provides multiple programs in the seven communities located within M.D. of Opportunity #17:

• Wabasca
• Sandy Lake
• Chipewyan Lake
• Calling Lake
• Red Earth Creek
• Trout Lake
• Peerless Lake

The Department offers Outreach and Child Care Programs, and also includes the Golden Opportunity Clinic, Libraries and coordinates several community events, each service is outlined below.

Outreach

For Outreach Programs, the five components of ??? are provided for each community.  This includes programming for; children, youth, families, seniors and community. Child Care

There are currently three communities that offer Child Care Programs: Wabasca at Northern Lakes College and at St. Theresa, Red Earth Creek and Calling Lake.  Daycare and Out of School Care programs are offered in the locations. For more information on the Child Care options, please click here.

Golden Opportunity Clinic (GOC)

The Golden Opportunity Clinic is located in Wabasca and it provides medical services for the MD of Opportunity #17 surrounding communities located within the area.  For more information on the GOC municipal medical clinic, please click here.

Libraries

There are three Libraries in the M.D. of Opportunity area; Wabasca which is the main office, Calling Lake and Red Earth Creek. Each area has their own sites to serve the community. 

Community Events

Event Coordination is offered directly from the Community Services Department.  Events such as Canada Day, Remembrance Day and other important activities are just some of the examples of the different types of events that are promoted and supported by the M.D. of Opportunity #17.  For more information on current community events supported by the M.D., please click here.
